Three Kaduna Lawmakers Switch Allegiance to APC

Recently, three politicians from the Kaduna State House of Assembly, who were previously members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have transitioned to the All Progressives Congress (APC) along with their supporters.

The lawmakers include Henry Mara (Jaba Constituency), Emmanuel Kantiok (Zonkwa Constituency), and Samuel Kambai (Zango Constituency). Their defection was made public on Thursday during announcements in their local wards.

In separate interviews with PUNCH Online, the lawmakers emphasized that they were making this switch to build a stronger alignment with the ruling party due to the impressive leadership of Governor Uba Sani.

This move follows the recent defection of Amos Magaji, the lawmaker for Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency, to the APC just two days prior.

The lawmakers expressed that the well-being of their constituents is their top priority and believe they can better serve them within the ruling party.

Mara pointed out that the PDP’s influence in Southern Kaduna has significantly weakened, stating, “A major realignment in the power structure of the state House of Assembly is looming as we’re expecting more opposition to dump the PDP for APC.”

Kambai noted that the accomplishments of Governor Uba Sani have diminished hostility towards the APC and have effectively sidelined the opposition parties in the area.
“Governor Uba Sani’s commendable achievements within two years are attributable to the decline in opposition parties.”

Kantiok commented on the challenges faced over the past eight years, particularly regarding security issues. He indicated that there is now a sense of peace and promised to further enhance the progress achieved under Sani’s leadership.
