Three People Dead Following Failed Assassination Attempt on Ibadan House of Representatives Member

Just days before the gubernatorial and state house of assembly elections in Oyo State, a councilor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Ward 10 in Ibadan South East Local Government, Sulimon Ariyibi, was shot dead by gunmen in his home in Ile Tuntun area, Ibadan. According to Vanguard, the deceased and two other unidentified individuals were pronounced dead upon arrival at Adeooyo State Hospital in Ring Road Ibadan.

Abass Adigun, the lawmaker representing Ibadan South East/North East Federal constituency, stated that the attackers were “APC boys” who had been throwing stones and sachets of water at them during their campaign trail from Orita Aperin to Adesola. He expressed his sadness at the incident, which occurred just hours before the election, and urged the police to take action quickly. SP. Adewale Osifeso, the spokesperson of the state police command, confirmed the incident and said that investigations were underway to determine what had happened.
