The council meeting planned for today has been postponed to pay tribute to the late Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, who passed away on Tuesday night.

President Bola Tinubu has announced a new date for the Federal Executive Council meeting.

This information was conveyed in a statement on Wednesday by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.

The meeting was originally set for today but was postponed as a mark of respect for Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, who served as Chief of Army Staff from June 19, 2023, until his recent passing on November 5, 2024.

In addition, President Tinubu has directed that flags across the country be flown at half-staff for a week to honor the late general.

Today, President Tinubu offered his sincere condolences to the Lagbaja family and the Nigerian Armed Forces, wishing Lt. General Lagbaja eternal rest and recognizing his valuable service to the nation.
