Barrister Ismael Ahmed has been designated as the Executive Chairman for the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi).
This appointment was revealed by President Bola Tinubu in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, a media aide to the president, on Friday.
Tinubu emphasized that Ahmed will oversee the initiative aimed at mitigating the impact of fuel subsidy removal by providing cheaper, cleaner energy alternatives.
The Presidency highlighted that the PCNGi is part of the Tinubu administration’s broader palliative support program.
Aged 45, Ahmed graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Abuja in 2005 and was called to the bar in 2006 after attending the Nigerian Law School in Abuja.
He then pursued a master’s degree in international relations, communications, and diplomacy at Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, completing it in 2008.
Previously, Ahmed held the position of senior special assistant on the National Social Investment Programme under former President Muhammadu Buhari from 2018 to 2022.
