After being sworn in on January 20, Donald Trump, the newly elected US President, is anticipated to initiate over 200 executive measures on his first day in office.
At 78 years old, Trump secured victory in the November presidential election against Democrat Kamala Harris, taking over from incumbent President Joe Biden.
The plan includes around 50 executive orders that will have the force of law. These orders will address various issues such as strengthening border security and boosting domestic energy production, along with ensuring merit-based hiring for federal employees, as reported by Fox News Digital.
Trump intends to commence signing these orders promptly following his inauguration, according to senior adviser Jason Miller. Many of these actions will be bundled into “omnibus” directives.
He had earlier indicated plans to sign at least 25 orders on his inaugural day, as per the source.
“This represents a historic and unparalleled initial wave,” an insider remarked. “This is the most comprehensive set of executive actions in US history, driven by a steadfast commitment to fulfill campaign promises.”
Among these orders, Trump will declare a national border emergency to essentially seal the southern border of the US, although the status of the northern border remains uncertain.
Leaked information suggests that extensive plans for his first day include a mass deportation initiative beginning in Chicago immediately after he takes office.
This would coincide with a potential citizenship directive aiming to terminate the automatic citizenship granted to children born in the US to undocumented migrants.
“On the first day of my new term, I will issue an executive order that clarifies for federal agencies that the law’s correct interpretation going forward will not provide automatic citizenship to future children of illegal aliens,” Trump stated in a May 2023 video.
This proposed order might conflict with the 14th Amendment and could face legal challenges.
Additionally, Trump plans to suspend security clearances for 51 national security officials linked to the Hunter Biden laptop controversy prior to the 2020 election.
He will also halt offshore wind leases, dismantle the Biden administration’s electric vehicle mandates, and withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord, according to Fox.
“I want to be a dictator for one day, as I’ll rapidly initiate ‘Drill, baby, drill,’” Trump proclaimed during his campaign, referring to boosting domestic oil production. “After that, I won’t be a dictator anymore.”
Furthermore, Trump plans to implement federal workforce regulations that warn employees of potential dismissal for non-compliance, emphasize merit-based hiring, and require a return to in-office work as opposed to remote arrangements.
“There is a substantial federal workforce that has been misaligned, acting against the interests of the American people, and President Trump is stepping in to assert, ‘You will serve the American people and only American citizens,’” the official conveyed to Fox. “This aims to halt misconduct and re-align government responsibilities to better serve the American public.”
