Pastor Tunde Bakare, the Serving Overseer of Citadel Global Community Church, has addressed rumors regarding his meeting with President Bola Tinubu, providing clarity on his motivations.
Bakare, an aspirant in the 2023 APC presidential primaries, met with Tinubu at the president’s Lagos residence on June 4.
In a recent sermon, Bakare categorically denied any suggestions implying he sought personal advantages from the presidency.
“Some people still think he has gone there to settle himself. In what way have I settled myself before? What they gave me, I returned. What am I looking for?” he questioned.
Bakare recalled advising Tinubu against the misuse of presidential authority.
On April 20, he urged Tinubu to heed counsel and “stop playing God.”
During his address on the state of the nation in Lagos, Bakare urged the president to enact a “coordinated plan” to navigate Nigeria through its ongoing challenges.
