On December 30, two individuals, Egunlae Ademola, 52, and Oluwafemi Ajayi, 65, faced charges at the Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ court, accused of attempting to murder a member of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s staff.
The defendants, whose residence details remain undisclosed, face serious charges including conspiracy, making threats with weapons, and attempting to kill Hon. Talabi Odunayo Arinka.
Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, the police prosecutor, revealed to the court that the incident took place on December 22, 2024, around 8:30 PM.
The prosecutor argued that there is sufficient evidence to justify detaining Ademola and Ajayi in custody, given their reasonable suspicion of involvement in the listed crimes.
These charges violate sections 421, 46, and 241 (a) & (b) of the Ekiti State Criminal Law 2021.
Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun set bail for the accused at N250,000 each, requiring one surety for each defendant at the same amount.
The case has been rescheduled for hearing on February 14, 2025.
