Two Individuals Jailed for Importing Codeine Cough Syrup

Two Businessmen Sentenced To 14 years Imprisonment For Importing Codeine (via Primetweets)
A Federal High Court in Lagos sentenced Emmanuel Chukwuemeka and Kingsley Amanambu to 14 years in prison for importing 8,200 kilograms of cough syrup containing codeine. Alongside the prison term, Justice Akintayo Aluko ordered them to forfeit a White Toyota Tacoma V6 used to transport the illegal drug to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The convicted individuals, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka and Kingsley Amanambu, faced charges of conspiracy, unlawful importation, and dealing with the banned drug. They pleaded guilty to these charges brought against them by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

Juliana Negedu, the NDLEA prosecution counsel, informed the court that the pair was apprehended with the banned cough syrup on June 10, 2024, at the Comfort Oboh Estate in Kirikiri, Apapa, Lagos.
