Rev. Kelvin Ugwu, a well-known Catholic priest, highlights that purity goes beyond just sex and virginity.
He emphasizes that there are individuals who may be virgins but harbor impure hearts and wicked intentions.
According to him, purity involves being genuine rather than having a deceitful or malicious mindset.
“When purity is discussed, many immediately connect it to sex and virginity; however, my teachings on purity delve deeper. Some individuals may have maintained their virginity but possess corrupt hearts and malevolent thoughts. Purity encompasses honesty. Often, people fail to be truthful with themselves and those around them,” he expressed in a recent Facebook post.
He further exemplifies instances of individuals who participate in religious practices yet mistreat their domestic help, showcasing hypocrisy and lack of purity.
“The scriptures emphasize that those with impurity cannot behold God. It is imperative to consistently cleanse our hearts of resentment, indecency, and malice. Accept correction graciously. Resorting to insults when faced with criticism contradicts the essence of Christianity,” he added.
