An individual known as Biggy, who works as a POS Operator, was kidnapped by an armed group from his home in Delta State.
The incident unfolded at 3pm on Friday in Egbo Community, Ughelli South Local Government Area.
When the friend of the victim noticed the dangerous gunmen and their gunfire, he managed to flee from the area.
Reports indicate that a bullet went through the building’s wall as he made his escape.
As of now, there is no information regarding the whereabouts of the victim and the abductors.
This event has stirred anxiety among residents, locals, and business operators in the vicinity.
An activist from the Niger Delta, Israel Joe, has criticized the escalating insecurity in the region, stating, “It is crucial to alert the authorities about the alarming increase in kidnappings in Delta State, particularly in Ughelli South – Egbo, Aragba, Otokutu, Uvwie, Warri, and nearby areas.”
“Law enforcement agencies should step up to tackle this disturbing social issue. How can kidnapping become a common occurrence now?”
Meanwhile, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, mentioned that the incident had not been officially reported.
In a brief WhatsApp message sent to our correspondent in Warri, Edafe stated, “Not reported pls, so not confirmed”.
