The Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has decided to indefinitely suspend actress Halima Abubakar following an in-depth investigation.
According to a statement released on Friday, the AGN’s findings indicated that Halima is reportedly responsible for spreading defamatory information about fellow actors online.
The Guild specifically noted that she is linked to false reports regarding extramarital affairs involving prominent figures in society and film industry stars.
As part of her suspension, Halima will be brought before a disciplinary committee to face potential penalties, and she is prohibited from acting or engaging in any film productions during this time.
The statement included the following: “After a comprehensive investigation by the Special Secret Investigation Panel, which was convened to look into the activities of various bloggers since 2022, it was discovered that Miss Halima Abubakar has been behind the malicious rumors targeting our members and associates, particularly regarding extramarital affairs involving notable individuals from the industry.”
“Consequently, Halima Abubakar is placed on indefinite suspension from the Actors Guild of Nigeria and will be subject to review by the National Disciplinary Committee to determine the extent of her punishment. During her suspension, she must refrain from any AGN-related filming activities.”
“The National and State Chapter Taskforces have been assigned to ensure adherence to this directive, as any violations may provoke further disciplinary measures. The Actors Guild of Nigeria acknowledges the diligent work of the investigative panel. Additionally, some female members have been flagged for investigation, particularly concerning a recent list of names associated with dealings involving the Senate President.”
