The famous American duo, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, are currently living separately, yet sources claim that they are still together.
At 56, Will, known for his role in I Am Legend, along with 53-year-old Jada from the Matrix franchise, are said to be leading individual lives but have not cut ties completely, according to insiders who spoke to People.
‘You can call it whatever you’d like,’ one source mentioned. Another insider revealed that since their marriage in 1997, the couple has opted for separate residences.
In 2023, reports indicated that Jada maintains her own house close to Will’s in Calabasas.
Will has also been described as feeling a bit disenchanted with Hollywood lately, with the first source suggesting that this perspective could shift with new successes.
After Jada revealed in 2023 that they had been living apart for seven years, starting from 2016, the couple has been actively working on their relationship.
She emphasized that no final decisions have been made concerning their marriage’s future and mentioned that they are ‘still figuring things out’.
She further disclosed that their marriage had experienced multiple breakups throughout the years during her appearance on the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast.
Will also touched on their struggles in his 2021 memoir, where he indicated there were times they felt unhappy, necessitating change in their relationship.
Jada later explained how they reconnected following Will’s infamous slap of comedian Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars after Rock made a joke concerning Jada’s shaved head. Will approached the stage to confront him, shouting, ‘keep my wife’s name out of your f**king mouth.’
‘In that moment, I realized I wouldn’t leave Will after all those years of contemplation,’ she shared with Extra.
‘I entered that space as his companion, but I exited as his wife,’ she added.
