A Nigerian man has shared his thoughts regarding the altercation between UNIZIK student, Precious Mbakwe, and her lecturer, Prof Chukwudi Okoye.
He argued that the professor’s decision to touch Precious was a mistake that led to her angry reaction.
The conflict arose when Precious was dancing in a hallway, and the lecturer, wishing to pass, lightly tapped her on the shoulder and requested, “Excuse me.”
In response, she made a dismissive comment, which escalated when the lecturer returned to confront her and attempted to take her phone, resulting in a physical encounter.
The man, during the radio discussion, stated that the professor crossed a line when he initiated contact with Precious in a crowded area.
He emphasized, “A lecturer should not have touched her. Saying excuse me does not require physical contact. That was the root of the issue. The professor’s touch set everything off.”
He expressed that it is common for Nigerians to touch others when seeking attention, questioning the purpose of saying “excuse me” if it involves making contact.
“What does excuse me mean then?”
