The Adamawa State Police Command has disclosed that a suspected robber who was apprehended with a stolen tricycle planned with two other accomplices to kill the owner, Saifullahi Rufai.
TORI reported that the suspect, Abba Suleiman, 27, was intercepted and arrested last week by police officers attached to Song Division while on a confidence building patrol along Bariki Sajo -Song.
The suspect was on his way to dispose of the stolen tricycle to a certain place in Jimeta, Yola North before his arrest.
Spokesperson of the command, Suleiman Nguroje, in a statement on Monday, July 24, said the investigation further revealed that the suspect connived with two others ( now at large), deceived a middle-aged man commercial tricyclist, Saifullahi Rufai (A K A Dan Smally) to take them to Kogin Tipper, a place situated at a remote side of Gombi Town.
“Unfortunately upon arrival, they hit the cyclist with a heavy stick on his head until they were sure he was dead and robbed him of the tricycle,” the PPRO stated.
“The CP direct Deputy Commissioner Police SCID to take over the investigation, arrest the fleeing suspects, and diligently prosecute them,” he added.
