While Kobe Bryant’s trust will help sustain Vanessa, Natalia, Bianka, and (hopefully) Capri, his wife and children will work to sustain and protect Kobe’s legacy. On Feb. 13, 2020, the basketball star’s widow announced that Kobe’s Mamba Sports Foundation would continue to do its charitable work. However, she revealed that there would be one significant change going forward. “Because there is no #24 without #2, we have updated the Mamba Sports Foundation to now be called the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation,” Vanessa wrote on Instagram, referring to the numbers that both Kobe and Gigi, who was also a basketball player, wore while on the court.
“Our mission remains the same — and stronger than ever — to provide opportunities to young people through sports,” Vanessa continued. “Thank you all for the outpouring of support and your kind donations to date as we carry forth Kobe and Gigi’s legacy. We hope to empower young athletes in a world they left us all to help shape.” Kobe would be proud.
Over on the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation website, the organization notes that the endeavor “exists to further Kobe and Gianna Bryant’s legacy through charitable endeavors in sports,” which is something that you can donate to if you wish to help honor Kobe’s memory and help others attempt to reach the heights that he did during his legendary career.
