President Bola Ahmed Tinubu
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed confidence that his government is making significant progress in combating insecurity across the country.
He noted that in the past year, his administration has successfully eliminated more than 300 leaders of Boko Haram and various bandit groups.
During his Independence Day address on October 1, President Tinubu remarked;
“When my administration assumed office 16 months ago, we were faced with serious challenges. The economy was under pressure, and security issues were widespread. We reached a critical point, needing to choose between making impactful reforms for growth and continuing with ineffective practices that could lead to failure. We opted for reforming our political and security frameworks.”
He further stated, “I am proud to inform you that we are winning the battle against terrorism and banditry. Our goal is to eradicate all forms of Boko Haram, bandit-related activities, kidnapping for ransom, and other violent extremism. Over the last year, our forces have removed Boko Haram and bandit leaders more rapidly than ever before, with over 300 eliminated across the Northeast, Northwest, and other regions.”
