A suspected criminal identified as Shuaibu Abubakar has been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command in collaboration with local hunters.
During the arrest, an AK-47 rifle loaded with 16 rounds of live ammunition was recovered from the 30-year-old suspect.
Spokesperson for the police in the state, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, said the suspect was on the wanted list of the Command.
“Another 30-year-old man identified as Shuaibu Abubakar has been arrested following the continued manhunt by the operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command in collaboration with hunters on 17/10/2023,” the statement read.
“The suspect equally hails from Tambo in Girei LGA and was on the wanted list of the Command
“One AK-47 Rifle loaded with sixteen (16) rounds of live ammunition was recovered from the criminal.”
Nguroje said the Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, expressed happiness with the successful operation and reiterated that there is no hiding place for criminals in Adamawa State.
The CP stressed that police have implemented strategies to combat kidnapping activities, especially during the Ember Months.
“The arrest of Shuaibu Abubakar highlights the commitment of the Adamawa State Police Command to maintaining law and order, ensuring the safety of residents, and bringing criminals to justice,” he added.
