Whoopi Goldberg is a big fan of Vice President Joe Biden, having supported him time and time again amid his many controversies. Case in point: When Biden talked about crossing the aisle to work with pro-segregation senators during a time of supposed “civility” in American politics, Goldberg defended him against accusations of bigotry. “Don’t try to make him out a racist, she said during a June 2019 episode of The View. “You don’t like some of the stuff he has done, say that, but you can’t call the dude a racist.” The actor seemed to defend the former vice president again after Super Tuesday in March 2020, when co-host Meghan McCain argued how Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ supporters would make it hard for Biden to win the nomination because they want a “revolution.” Goldberg responded, “People want change. There’s no problem with that. There’s nothing wrong with change, but I don’t want change on top of chaos and we’ve got chaos at the moment.”
Considering Goldberg is an apparent fan of Biden, it’s no surprise she appeared excited the day after he earned more delegates than Sanders. And at one point during the episode, she interrupted a segment to float a “crazy” idea for the politician’s VP, suggesting, “I thought, oh man, what would happen if Joe Biden said my choice for VP is Barack Obama?” The moderator added that the combo wouldn’t be “illegal,” which is up for debate, per Snopes.
