A group of young individuals in Damaturu, Yobe State have taken to the streets to protest against the prevailing hardship and hunger in the region.

They have joined their peers nationwide to express their discontent with the current economic challenges facing the country.

The protesters, brandishing various placards bearing messages, urged the government to promptly reverse its policies that are deemed unfavorable to the masses.

Under the leadership of Sarah Jandi, the State Coordinator of the Initiative for Better and Brighter Nigeria, the youths have presented their grievances to a government representative.

Some of their key demands include the restoration of the fuel subsidy, addressing issues of food insecurity, social security, and youth unemployment, among other concerns.

“We urge the President to demonstrate empathy towards the ordinary citizens by spearheading efforts to reduce government expenses and trim the cost of governance in Nigeria”, she asserted.

As of the time of reporting, the protest in Yobe State has been noted to be predominantly peaceful.
