Arsenal Eyeing a Bold Move for Euro 2024 Champion

Fabian Ruiz

Rumors suggest that Arsenal is considering making a surprising bid for Spain’s Euro 2024 standout, Fabian Ruiz.

Having played a significant role in Spain’s triumph at Euro 2024 while with Paris Saint-Germain, the midfielder has attracted interest from various top clubs, with the Gunners being one of them.

Looking to bolster their midfield options for the upcoming Premier League season, Mikel Arteta has set his sights on the 28-year-old Ruiz, who is currently under contract with PSG until 2027 and is not a regular starter, potentially making him open to new opportunities.

Arsenal is contemplating a loan deal for Ruiz with a mandatory purchase clause at the season’s end, as per the Daily Express. PSG is reportedly inclined to sell Ruiz for about £35 million ($45 million).

Steps for Arsenal to Secure Fabian Ruiz Acquisition

To facilitate this potential move, Arsenal may need to part ways with a current midfielder to free up finances and squad spots.

One candidate for departure is Emile Smith Rowe, with reports suggesting that Arsenal has reached an agreement on a fee with Fulham, amounting to £35 million.

Ruiz had a mixed performance at PSG, featuring in 35 games and netting seven goals, primarily in the Coupe de France. However, his displays at Euro 2024, where he scored twice and assisted twice, showcased his capabilities within a cohesive squad.

Arsenal’s interest in Ruiz coincides with PSG’s pursuit of Joao Neves from Benfica, potentially paving the way for Ruiz’s exit.

Furthermore, renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano indicates that PSG is close to finalizing a deal to secure Neves for €70 million (£59 million & $75.8 million) with Renato Sanches moving to Benfica.

This development could expedite Ruiz’s departure from PSG, providing Arsenal with a clear timeframe to make a move if they intend to acquire his services.

Arsenal is also reportedly eyeing other midfield prospects, including Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino from Spain. With the recent addition of Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna, Arsenal is now focused on further fortifying their roster, potentially by adding Ruiz.
