Manchester United might struggle to retain Diogo Dalot, as both Real Madrid and Barcelona have shown interest in the defender.
The Portuguese player, who extended his contract until 2028 last year, has become an integral part of the team.
Dalot was honored as United’s Players’ Player of the Year last season and has made 21 appearances this season, showcasing his adaptability even after the team switched to a 3-4-3 formation under new coach Ruben Amorim.
Barcelona Competes with Real Madrid for Diogo Dalot
Real Madrid reportedly views Dalot as a viable replacement for Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose future remains unclear.
Barcelona, however, is also keen on securing the 25-year-old, adding to the competition for his signature.
As reported by CaughtOffside, Barca’s sporting director Deco holds Dalot in high regard and considers him a long-term fix for their right-back position.
Manchester United has a strong valuation of Dalot. While Madrid is expected to propose a base fee of £41 million ($52 million), United is likely to ask for a higher sum due to Dalot’s consistent performance.
Given that Jules Kounde is currently playing out of position at Barcelona and Real Madrid is looking for a replacement for the injured Dani Carvajal, the interest from both teams makes sense.
Is Selling Dalot a Viable Option for Manchester United?
Even though Dalot has proven to be a reliable player, his position at Old Trafford may not be assured. The club could consider exploring other defensive arrangements under Amorim, particularly as Amad Diallo emerges as a favored candidate for the right wing-back position, potentially leaving Dalot aiming for a left-sided role.
A lucrative transfer to Spain could prove advantageous for everyone involved, especially if Dalot seeks a new challenge at a top European club while United might benefit from additional transfer funds to pursue Amorim’s preferred targets.
