Football Events at the Olympics 2024

2024 Olympics gold medal Paris

The 2024 Summer Olympics are set to take place in Paris from late July to early August. Football is a significant part of the event, with both men’s and women’s tournaments drawing global attention.

For the men’s tournament, teams are mainly comprised of players under 23 with a few over-age players. There are no age restrictions for the women’s teams.

Due to the proximity of the Olympics to other major competitions like the European Championships and Copa America, securing top players from Europe and South America for the Olympics can be challenging.

France, as the host nation, automatically qualifies for both men’s and women’s events. The United States, Spain, and New Zealand are the only countries that have qualified for both competitions through competitive means.

The draw for the tournament matchups will be held on March 20 at 3 p.m. ET and can be viewed live on FIFA’s official streaming service, FIFA+.

Women’s Olympic Qualifiers

Twelve teams will compete in the women’s football tournament at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Each confederation except Oceania has two representatives.

England, despite being ranked second in the world by FIFA, did not qualify for the Olympics. Zambia and Nigeria secured their spots through the African qualifiers.
