Amid a warm welcome from the Santiago Bernabeu crowd, Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid’s latest star signing, made his on-field presentation on Tuesday, July 16.
Having completed his move from Paris Saint-Germain after the expiration of his contract, expectations are soaring for the 25-year-old at his new club.
After the initial photocall at Madrid, focus now shifts to Mbappe’s debut in a competitive match for the club.
Carlo Ancelotti’s team is gearing up for a preseason tour in the United States, but fans will have to wait to witness Mbappe in action.
Will Mbappe Join Real Madrid’s USA Tour?
According to The Athletic, Mbappe will not be part of the squad traveling for matches against AC Milan, Barcelona, and Chelsea starting July 28.
During his presentation press conference, Mbappe suggested his willingness to participate in friendly matches if the club desired, but it appears that Madrid has opted to hold him back for sports-related reasons.
Given his participation in Euro 2024 where France exited at the semifinals, it is customary for players to have three to four weeks off for recovery after international tournaments.
Considering Mbappe’s recent nose injury during the tournament, additional rest is necessary for his recuperation.
Mbappe’s Real Madrid Debut Date
The Athletic indicates that Mbappe is set to rejoin training on August 7 alongside his new teammates at Madrid’s Valdebebas training facility.
If his recovery from the broken nose progresses smoothly, Mbappe is expected to make his debut for Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup clash against Atalanta in Warsaw, Poland, on Wednesday, August 14.
Madrid will commence their La Liga title defense with a match against Real Mallorca four days later.
