Fans of Barcelona are feeling anxious as manager Hansi Flick reveals that promising young player Lamine Yamal is dealing with a significant injury.
Following a strong Champions League victory against Red Star Belgrade, where Yamal participated for the entire match, the club disclosed that the 17-year-old has incurred a severe contusion, sidelining him for the recent La Liga encounter against Real Sociedad.
After Barça’s unexpected 1-0 defeat to Sociedad, Flick mentioned the strain this injury imposes on the team and expressed doubts regarding Yamal’s recovery timeline.
Concerns for Yamal’s National Team Selection
The Spanish national team has named Yamal in their squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League games against Denmark and Switzerland.
Nevertheless, Barcelona has formally requested for him to be released in order to focus on his recovery. Flick expressed his desire for Yamal to stay back, stating, “We’ve asked for him not to travel to the national team.”
This presents a difficult situation for both the national team and the club, given Yamal’s importance to Barcelona this season, where he has already netted six goals and provided eight assists in merely 16 appearances.
His absence was noticeable during the match against Sociedad, with Fermin Lopez stepping in but unable to match Yamal’s impact on the right side.
