Liverpool is on a recruitment drive this summer, finalizing one transaction after another. Having recently clinched the Premier League title, the Reds are eager to reinforce their dominance in English football and seize any available enhancement opportunities.
So far, they’ve secured the Bayer Leverkusen duo of Jeremie Frimpong and later made a significant investment to acquire his teammate Florian Wirtz, successfully staving off competition from Manchester City and Bayern Munich to secure the German international.
Currently, their attention has turned to bolstering the left-back position. They’ve been heavily linked with Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez and are nearing completion of this acquisition.
Recent updates from Fabrizio Romano indicate that Kerkez is determined to join Liverpool this summer, even choosing to ignore advances from other clubs.
According to Romano on his YouTube channel, while the deal isn’t finalized yet, he predicts that Kerkez will eventually make the move to Merseyside. However, there’s a minor hurdle delaying the agreement.
Romano opted not to disclose specifics about the issue but suggested that the negotiation is in a promising position. He believes more conversations will be necessary to finalize the details.
What Kerkez could contribute to Liverpool
Kerkez has had an impressive season with Bournemouth under manager Andoni Iraola, frequently posing a challenge with his dynamic runs down the left side. The 21-year-old Hungarian could be an excellent long-term addition to Liverpool’s left-back playing style.

His abilities in crossing and chance creation are key reasons why Arne Slot is keen to have him, especially following the loss of someone as vital as Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid. Kerkez is effective at advancing play, exhibits an attacking mindset, shows creativity in the final third, and is also competent in one-on-one defensive situations. He poses a significant threat on the left for Liverpool.
In the past season, Kerkez participated in all 38 Premier League games, playing a full 90 minutes every time, registering five assists and two goals. He averaged an impressive 3.79 crosses and 2.79 progressive carries per 90 minutes, marking him as one of the Premier League’s most creative full-backs.
At just 21, he is still evolving but displays qualities of a modern full-back capable of making substantial contributions to Slot and Liverpool in the future. With Andrew Robertson already playing in that role, he could greatly benefit from mentorship from a player with a similar style.
