Joshua Zirkzee, who recently joined Manchester United, is looking for a way out in January after not being favored by new coach Ruben Amorim.
The Dutch forward, bought for £36.5 million from Bologna, has had a tough time making an impact, with only one goal in 18 matches.
Amorim, working on adapting the team to his 3-4-3 formation, has openly criticized Zirkzee’s on-field choices and positioning following his first game.
Zirkzee remarked, “I believe that decision-making is an issue, as players should inherently possess this skill at this level. You need to manage possession and understand when to advance the ball.” He noted that sometimes it seems challenging to maintain the ball and there’s a tendency to rush the play.
This uncertainty from Amorim has led Zirkzee to contemplate a return to Juventus, where he could reunite with his former manager, Thiago Motta.
Potential Destinations for Zirkzee
Motta is reportedly interested in signing Zirkzee for Juventus, where they previously found great success together. Last season, Zirkzee netted 12 goals under Motta, aiding Bologna in qualifying for the Champions League.
While Juventus prefers a loan arrangement, Manchester United may prefer a permanent deal due to financial issues and the need for additional attacking options.
If Zirkzee departs, it could leave United with limited striker options, primarily relying on Rasmus Højlund.
Amorim will have to weigh squad depth against Financial Fair Play rules when making decisions about Zirkzee’s future.
