Christian Eriksen, the midfielder for Manchester United, is likely to leave the club as a free agent when his contract ends in June 2025.
Despite making a strong impact in Erik ten Hag’s lineup, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano states that discussions for a new contract have not yet started.
At 32 years old, Eriksen has been pivotal for United this season, featuring in seven of their last eight matches across various competitions.
He is anticipated to remain an essential player in future fixtures, including upcoming matches against Fenerbahçe in the Europa League and West Ham in the Premier League, particularly with Kobbie Mainoo out for a month.
Is Eriksen set to depart from Man Utd next summer?
Even with Eriksen’s significant contributions lately, Romano suggests it is “likely” the midfielder will depart from Old Trafford for free at the season’s conclusion.
The Danish international can begin negotiations with clubs abroad in January, and there are no indications that discussions about a contract extension are underway.
Romano tweeted, “No contacts ongoing now between Man United board and Christian Eriksen over new deal,” intensifying the speculation about Eriksen’s departure.

Eriksen is among several Manchester United players who are nearing the end of their contracts.
Other prominent players in a similar situation include Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans, and Tom Heaton, while Harry Maguire and Amad Diallo might have their contracts extended by a year due to certain clauses.
With Eriksen’s future uncertain, Manchester United will face challenging decisions as they approach the next transfer windows and consider squad restructuring.
