Manchester United is preparing for an active January transfer period, with new manager Ruben Amorim aiming to bolster the team by acquiring a striker and a central midfielder.
The club is looking to enhance their offensive and midfield capabilities to support upcoming talents like Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund.
Reports from Sky Sports Germany indicate that United is interested in Leon Goretzka from Bayern Munich as a midfield option, although the likelihood of a mid-season transfer seems minimal.
Goretzka, a 29-year-old international player for Germany, has mostly been a substitute this season under new manager Vincent Kompany, who has yet to grant him a starting position. Although Bayern sought to sell him in the last summer transfer window, Goretzka appears determined to remain at the club until the season concludes.
Interest in Gyokeres from Sporting
In a bid to find more attacking options, Amorim is also looking at Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP.
Gyokeres has been in excellent form, recently netting a hat-trick against Manchester City, which has caught the attention of Manchester United.

However, as Gyokeres is unlikely to be available until the summer, United may look for a temporary striker solution this January.
Ruben Amorim’s official start will be on November 11, with his debut match scheduled against Ipswich Town on November 24.
In the meantime, former United forward Ruud van Nistelrooy will oversee the team’s upcoming Europa League and Premier League fixtures.
The January transfer window brings hope for United supporters as Amorim aims to assemble a team that can ascend the Premier League standings and compete on the European stage.
