Lionel Messi extends MLS scoring record in Inter Miami

Inter Miami, captained by Lionel Messi, secured a 2-1 victory over Nashville SC in Major League Soccer on July 12 at Chase Stadium.

Messi scored two goals, one in each half, guiding Inter Miami to their third consecutive league win following their exit in the Club World Cup Round of 16.

This latest success also allowed Messi to enhance one of his personal records within the MLS.

By scoring twice against Nashville, the Argentine superstar has now set a new MLS record for scoring multiple goals in five straight matches.

Before the Club World Cup, Messi had netted two goals each against Montreal and Columbus in May, maintaining his scoring streak with additional braces in the following three league matches against Montreal, New England Revolution, and Nashville.

Overall, Messi has tallied 16 goals over 16 MLS matches for Inter Miami, alongside providing six assists.

What’s next for Lionel Messi and Inter Miami?

Following the win against Nashville, Inter Miami is currently placed fifth on the MLS Eastern Conference table, accumulating 38 points in 19 games.

Next up, Messi’s team will take on FC Cincinnati on July 16 at TQL Stadium.

Additionally, Inter Miami will kick off their Leagues Cup campaign at the end of this month, facing Liga MX side Atlas on July 30 at Chase Stadium.
