Lionel Messi is once again making headlines, consistently setting new benchmarks while playing a vital role in Inter Miami’s recent achievements in Major League Soccer.
On May 28, the team broke a winless run, and on Saturday, they secured an impressive 5-1 victory against Columbus Crew at Chase Stadium.
Messi assisted the initial goal of the match before scoring the next two. He also played a pivotal role in the fifth goal, contributing significantly to the team’s four-goal tally and earning three valuable points in the league.
As a result of this triumph, Inter Miami now sits third in the MLS standings with 29 points from 16 games.
Thanks to his excellent performance against Columbus Crew, Messi has managed to equal one of his own records, the first time achieving this since 2022.

Messi has now recorded multiple goals and assists in the same game for the 13th time in his entire club career, marking the first occurrence since October 2022 when he was still with Paris Saint-Germain.
This was also Messi’s first such performance with Inter Miami after joining the MLS team in 2023. The legendary player, an eight-time Ballon d’Or winner, is leading the records for most goals and assists in the history of the club.

So far this season, Messi has scored 15 goals and provided six assists in 20 matches across all competitions for Inter Miami.
Looking ahead, Inter Miami is set to face Egyptian club Al Ahly in their opening match of this year’s Club World Cup on June 14 at Hard Rock Stadium in Florida.
