Son Aiming for Comeback in Anticipated London Derby: Tottenham vs. West Ham Predictions and Team Updates

Tottenham vs. West Ham lineups, expected starting 11, confirmed team news and injuries: Son pushing for London derby return image

Tottenham is set to face West Ham in a Premier League derby, still reeling from their recent defeat just before the international break.

They had an encouraging start with a 2-0 lead against Brighton, but ended up suffering a 3-2 loss. The previous week’s triumphant 3-0 victory against Manchester United seems distant now, and coach Ange Postecoglou is looking for a robust rebound from his squad.

West Ham has also encountered a rocky start under coach Julen Lopetegui, but they snapped a five-match winless streak with a 4-1 victory over Ipswich Town in their last outing.

Predicted Lineups and Team News for Tottenham vs. West Ham

Postecoglou is assessing three forwards nearing a comeback, although they might not be ready for this match against West Ham.

Captain Son Heung-min has been sidelined for three games due to a thigh injury but has resumed training alongside Richarlison, with both monitored ahead of the match.

“Sonny and Richy have looked good in training, which is encouraging for us,” said Postecoglou. “Hopefully, both players can make it back for the weekend.”

Wilson Odobert, recovering from a hamstring injury, has also started light training, while young midfielder Lucas Bergvall is fit after a minor injury during national duty with Sweden.

A key choice for Postecoglou revolves around maintaining an attacking midfield setup featuring James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski or opting for more stability by including Yves Bissouma or Pape Sarr due to previous experiences. It seems likely the Spurs manager will stick with his current tactics.

Predicted Tottenham XI (4-3-3): Vicario (GK) — Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie — Kulusevski, Bentancur, Maddison — Johnson, Solanke, Werner

Injured: Odobert
Suspended:

Lopetegui’s squad is largely healthy, except for Nicklas Fullkrug, who has been absent since late August due to an Achilles issue.

Michail Antonio has once again stepped up as the main striker for West Ham, scoring his first goal of the season in the recent match against Ipswich.

Predicted West Ham XI (4-2-3-1): Areola (GK) — Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Emerson — Rodriguez, Soucek — Bowen, Paqueta, Kudus — Antonio

Injured: Fulkrug
Suspended:
