Thomas Muller, a legendary figure at Bayern Munich, is preparing for the Club World Cup as the team has started training in Orlando ahead of its first match against A-League victors Auckland City on June 15.
This tournament marks his final chapter with Bayern, as he will be departing after his contract expires this summer. Having spent 25 years with the club, Muller is moving on due to the club’s decision not to extend his contract.
Under coach Kompany, Muller found himself sidelined, leading the club to question the merit of maintaining his high salary for such a limited role. As a result, they opted to explore other options apart from the seasoned German player.
Though his next move remains uncertain, there is interest from various Major League Soccer teams. Reports indicate that Los Angeles FC, a partner of Bayern, expressed interest. Unfortunately, a recent offer from LAFC was below Muller’s expectations, putting negotiations on hold as per new updates from BILD.
The report indicates that LAFC would need to enhance their offer significantly to attract the German star. Other MLS teams are also circling, yet Bayern seems to favor a potential move to LAFC, keeping the situation fluid.
Interestingly, LAFC representatives visited Munich to discuss their plans with Muller. While the player is open to the idea, LAFC’s proposal did not meet his expectations, leaving the discussions unresolved.
What’s Muller’s stance on his future?
Currently in Orlando with his Bayern teammates, Muller is focused on making a lasting impression in his final appearance. However, when queried about upcoming opportunities, the 35-year-old remains open-minded.

“I’m entirely at ease regarding my future,” Muller shared with journalists in Orlando. “Even if something arises during the tournament concerning my career, I won’t let it distract me. My immediate focus remains on the Club World Cup.”
“Perhaps you [reporters] will hear news before I do, just like last time [regarding the lack of a new contract from Bayern].”
As the Club World Cup approaches, its significance has intensified for Bayern, given that it represents Muller’s last outing in their colors, amidst reports suggesting the Bayern board hopes to achieve financial gains from the tournament for summer transfers.
