After achieving a significant milestone by securing the Europa League title and breaking a 17-year trophy drought, Tottenham Hotspur has decided to part ways with head coach Ange Postecoglou.

In an official announcement released on Friday, the club described Postecoglou’s dismissal as a ‘challenging decision’ while justifying their choice.

“It’s vital that we compete on various fronts and we believe a change in direction will enhance our chances for the upcoming season and beyond. This has been one of the hardest decisions we’ve faced, and it was not made lightly or hastily. We are convinced this decision is the right one for maximizing our success moving forward, rather than the easiest,” the statement indicated.

Having taken the reins in 2023, Postecoglou’s era at Spurs concluded, leading to speculation regarding who will assume the managerial role at the club.

According to Sky Sports News, Brentford’s head coach Thomas Frank has emerged as the leading candidate for the position. Frank has been with Brentford since October 2018 and successfully led the team to Premier League promotion in 2021.

Since their promotion, Brentford has maintained its status in the Premier League. Frank’s contract with the club runs until the summer of 2027 and includes a reported release clause of £10 million.

Discussions with Frank are expected to commence in the coming days, as noted by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Who else is being considered for Tottenham’s managerial position?

Additionally, Romano revealed that Tottenham has recently reached out to Olympique Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi, though the Italian has declined the opportunity, opting to stay with his current club.

Other candidates under consideration include Fulham’s Marco Silva and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola to potentially take over the managerial role.

It remains to be seen who will lead Tottenham in the upcoming season.
