Trent Alexander-Arnold Fee Revealed After Free Transfer Talks Collapse

Real Madrid

Trent Alexander-Arnold has announced his exit from Liverpool in June, although his transition to Real Madrid is still uncertain.

The England player disclosed his departure from Anfield through an official club video in early May, marking the end of his 20-year journey with the Reds.

As Alexander-Arnold seeks a different opportunity in Madrid, the details of his transfer remain unresolved as Real Madrid prepares for their trip to the USA for the FIFA Club World Cup.

Following a season without any trophies, Real Madrid has let go of long-time manager Carlo Ancelotti, appointing former player and ex-Liverpool man Xabi Alonso as his replacement.

Securing a contract for Liverpool’s No.66 is a top priority for Alonso, but the 26-year-old is still officially under contract at Anfield until June 30.

Negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing to facilitate Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid before their USA trip, which will require a settlement fee.

When might Trent Alexander-Arnold join Real Madrid?

This inquiry can be approached from two angles, focusing on Real Madrid’s urgency to finalize the transaction swiftly.

The Club World Cup is scheduled to commence on June 14, with Real Madrid playing their opening match against Al Hilal on June 18.

Due to the competition’s adjustment to a summer format, FIFA has set the international transfer window from June 1 to 10, allowing clubs to secure new signings and register players with expiring contracts.

The final opportunity for player registration for the tournament is June 10, which is Real Madrid’s current target since Liverpool’s right-back is also expected to join the England team on May 2.

What will be the financial terms for Trent’s transfer to Real Madrid?

As per earlier reports from Diario AS, Real Madrid proposed £600,000 [£808,000] to expedite the transaction. However, Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes is aiming for £1m [$1.2m].

Liverpool may also ask Alexander-Arnold to forgo his final month’s wages, approximately £700,000 [$945,000], should he wish to leave ahead of schedule.

Despite the ongoing negotiations, Liverpool retains a strong position in the discussions, potentially insisting on a transfer fee in addition to foregoing the earnings mentioned above.

Reports from the Spanish outlet El Chiringuito suggests Liverpool might leverage the mini-transfer window to secure a fee, which could reach about £4m [$5.5m].
