Understanding the Name Change to ‘FC 25’ for the FIFA Video Game

EA Sports is gearing up to release its annual football video game, which this time will not bear the name FIFA. The much-loved football simulation will be known as FC 25 upon its launch in late September.

The change in name has led to curiosity about the history of EA Sports’ football franchise naming conventions.

The Reason Behind the Name ‘EA Sports FC 25’

In 2022, EA Sports and FIFA were unable to reach an agreement to renew the governing body’s license for the video game, necessitating a rebranding effort.

As the longstanding 20-year partnership between the two entities came to a close, EA Sports opted to rename their upcoming football title FC 24, with subsequent editions following suit as FC 25 in 2024.

Despite parting ways with FIFA, EA Sports maintains separate partnerships with 300 clubs and leagues globally, ensuring that player names, clubs, and competitions remain intact within the game post-transition.

The company assured players that all their favorite features would be present in EA SPORTS FC, including Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Pro Clubs, and VOLTA Football, along with an extensive roster of 19,000+ players, 700+ teams, 100+ stadiums, and 30 leagues.

Release Date of EA Sports FC 25

The standard version of EA Sports FC 25 will be available worldwide for purchase on September 27th, in line with the game’s traditional annual release schedule.

While early access to the game is a possibility, specific conditions must be met for eager players (details below).

Compatibility with Various Platforms

EA Sports FC 25 will be accessible for purchase on six platforms, including PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
