Xavi’s Potential Comeback: Could the Barcelona Legend Return to Management?

Former Barcelona boss Xavi linked with sensational management return image

Xavi Hernandez, the ex-coach of Barcelona, is reportedly thinking about returning to the coaching scene soon.

After departing from the La Liga team following last season, Xavi expressed a desire to take a break, with a possible comeback expected for the 2025/26 season.

So far, his potential links to Premier League and Serie A clubs have not materialized into serious opportunities. He is currently weighing his various options.

Despite being on the radar of multiple European teams, Arabic news source Al Raya reports that he may be in discussions to become the new manager of the Qatar national team, as current coach Tintin Marquez faces mounting pressure.

Xavi has prior coaching experience in Qatar, having led Al-Sadd to a league championship in 2021 before his return to Barcelona.

If he accepts this new role, it would mark the first time for the 44-year-old to step into international management, should he choose to head back to the Middle East.

Under the leadership of Martinez, Qatar currently ranks fourth in their group for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification, trailing Iran and Uzbekistan, who occupy the automatic qualification spots.

The national team’s next matches are scheduled for the November international window, including a home game against Uzbekistan, followed by an away match in the United Arab Emirates.
