During an interview with Bounce Radio, Don Jazzy talked about a tough time when he tried to sell Mo’hit Records, the label he started with D’banj, for just 1 million naira.

Don Jazzy confirmed the failed attempt to sell the label to Nigerian music executive Obi Asika.

He mentioned that the decision to sell came after D’banj’s hit single “Tongolo” didn’t bring in the expected financial success.

In 2024, Don Jazzy successfully sold a majority stake in Mavin Records to Universal Music for $150 million.

He shared the news on Instagram, expressing his excitement for the new chapter with UMG.
