Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has expressed his outrage at the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for referring him to the disciplinary committee of the party for alleged anti-party activities. This comes after the NWC approved the suspension of Pius Anyim and former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, from the party alongside Professor Dennis Ityavyar from Benue and Dr Aslam Aliyu from Zamfara states.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Nathaniel Ikyur, on Thursday night, Ortom accused the PDP NWC of acting in contempt of a subsisting court order which barred the party or any organ of the party from issuing any disciplinary measure against him. He further argued that the national chairman of the party, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, should be the first person to be referred to the disciplinary committee due to his involvement in anti-party activities in Benue State. Ortom concluded by urging that the party should not be allowed to be ridiculed by some individuals who were bent on destroying it for their own selfish gains.
