On June 29, 2024, the Ikorodu Area Command of the Lagos State Police intervened to prevent a 19-year-old lady from taking her own life.
Responding to a distress call around 2 p.m., the police averted a suicide attempt by the young woman who was trying to ingest an insecticide.
The rescued woman, unnamed for privacy, disclosed facing emotional turmoil due to an unexpected pregnancy and financial deceit.
Regarding her ordeal, she shared that she was impregnated by a man who disowned the pregnancy and also fell victim to a scam draining her Point of Sale (POS) business earnings.
She is now under psychological care while authorities pursue those responsible for her plight.
The Lagos State Police underscore the significance of mental health awareness and urge individuals in distress to seek timely assistance, reflecting their commitment to public welfare.
