Former Minister Criticizes President and Spokesperson
Solomon Dalung, former Minister of Sports and Youth Development in Nigeria, has accused President Bola Tinubu and his associates of prioritizing the wealth of the country over its well-being.
Dalung criticized Bayo Onanuga, a spokesperson for the president, for suggesting that the planned nationwide protest against governance issues is an attempt to disrupt the nation.
In a statement on social media, Dalung condemned Onanuga’s remark as unfair and malicious, asserting that the citizens demanding accountability and justice have a stronger claim to Nigeria than those currently in power.
He emphasized the importance of the protest to hold those responsible for the country’s challenges accountable and protect its heritage from exploitation.
Dalung stressed that the protests aim to ensure transparency and responsible governance, highlighting that while Nigerians have no alternative home, some officials have options like France, Europe, Canada, and the USA.
He dismissed any efforts to divide the people as outdated and urged those in power, specifically Tinubu and his allies, to address the legitimate grievances of the population to prevent any potential unrest.
The former Minister rejected the notion that the protests could escalate into chaos, attributing such fears to a strategy to deflect accountability from the government. He reiterated that the primary objective of the demonstrations is to advocate for good governance in the country.
