In a conversation on Menisms Podcast, Falz shared that his activism is deeply influenced by Fela Kuti and his father, Femi Falana.

Falz, the renowned Nigerian musician, revealed how his upbringing shaped his perspective on activism.

The artist, who spearheaded the #ENDSARS Protest in Lagos in 2020, highlighted that his activism had roots before that year.

During his interview on Menisms Podcast, he credited Fela Kuti and his father, Femi Falana, for inspiring his activism.

“Besides listening to Fela’s music, my father has been an activist for over four decades. Having such a father figure, everywhere I went, people had stories about how my father had helped them. This sense of selflessness influenced the person I am today.

“That mindset was always there. So, with everything I did in my career, I drew inspiration from my surroundings.

“I’ve always been socially aware. It wasn’t a sudden awakening. In 2020, there were significant events unfolding that required more than just words, and I felt compelled to take action beyond mere rhetoric. Given my existing stance, it was natural for me to take a prominent role.”
