Protest Against Bad Governance Erupts in Goronyo LGA, Sokoto State
Today, residents of Goronyo Local government area in Sokoto state took part in the #EndBadGovernance protest.
The demonstrators, predominantly men, carried various placards with messages like “Nigerians are hungry.”
The protest leader conveyed a message to the Federal government, stating;
‘’I am representing the sentiments and concerns of Nigerian youths to the current government. We are facing a crisis of scarcity, hunger, and instability.
There is a lack of justice in Nigeria. True democracy allows us to protest freely. Our intention is peaceful protest without damaging government property.
It is important for the world and our leaders to recognize that Nigerian youths are well aware of the country’s situation. In the era of historical figures like Tafawa Balewa, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Saudana of Sokoto, Makama of Bida, Herbert Macaulay, and Murtala Mohammed, significant progress was made.
Our ancestors passed down the legacy of these men who worked tirelessly to uplift Nigeria and establish order, security, and justice. However, justice is currently lacking in Nigeria as politicians treat Nigerians as second-class citizens, leaving us in a state of hunger acknowledged by all Nigerians.”
