President Bola Tinubu
President Bola Tinubu has expressed his congratulations to Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, on his victory in the Edo State gubernatorial election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced on Sunday that Okpebholo had won the election.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised the efforts of national APC leaders, Edo State officials, and party governors for their roles in securing this success.
He emphasized that this victory reflects the people’s support for the APC’s progressive values, economic initiatives, and dedication to enhancing the lives of Nigerians.
‘’President Tinubu commends APC national leaders, Edo State leaders, and party governors for working hard to achieve victory. He says the victory testified to the people’s support for the ruling party, its progressive ideals, its economic reengineering programme and its commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians.
Furthermore, he encouraged Senator Okpebholo to view his win as an opportunity for service rather than a moment of triumph. He urged him to reach out to opposing political figures and work towards uniting the people of Edo State for its progress.
President Tinubu also acknowledged the other candidates who contested in the election, appreciating their roles in promoting democracy in Nigeria. He noted that peaceful electoral competitions, like the recent one, highlight Nigeria’s status as a stable democracy.
The President called on anyone dissatisfied with the election results to seek resolution through legal means.
Additionally, he applauded the citizens of Edo State for their peaceful and organized participation in the election, highlighting the growth of democracy in Nigeria over the past 25 years. The statement reflects this perspective.
President Tinubu also commended INEC and security forces for their tireless efforts to ensure a successful and largely seamless election, reaffirming that INEC has shown its commitment to conducting fair elections in the country.
