Tragic Death of 74-Year-Old Woman in KwaZulu-Natal

A tragic incident occurred in Cornubia City, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, where a 74-year-old woman was fatally stabbed by her boyfriend during an argument.

On Thursday, October 3, 2024, at around 5pm, the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call from a resident concerned about the welfare of the woman, which led to a wellness check.

Upon arrival, RUSA found the South African Police Service (SAPS) already present at the scene.

“Paramedics entered the residence and found the victim on a lower-level bed. She was partially dressed and had sustained multiple stab wounds to her head and face. A blood-stained blue t-shirt was discovered on the sofa nearby,” RUSA reported.

Neighbors reported that they had heard the couple arguing beforehand, raising concerns that the dispute escalated to violence.

One neighbor entered the home, calling out for the woman. After receiving no answer, she discovered the victim’s body covered with a sheet.

“The boyfriend fled the scene after the body was discovered. There was blood in the bathroom, suggesting he may have cleaned himself and changed clothes before anyone arrived,” RUSA stated.

Furthermore, neighbors indicated that the suspect had a past of violent behavior, which included allegations of assaulting the woman when she declined to buy him alcohol.
