Pep Guardiola confirmed that Manchester City turned down a transfer proposal from the Saudi Pro League regarding their goalkeeper, Ederson.
The reigning Premier League champions maintained their stance despite speculation linking him to Al Nassr, while Guardiola aimed to secure the Brazilian’s future at the club.
Although the 31-year-old was reportedly contemplating a move to the Middle East, Guardiola intervened to ensure he remained at the Etihad Stadium for the upcoming 2024/25 season.
Guardiola’s Comments on Ederson and Al Nassr Rumors
When discussing the rumors regarding Ederson, Guardiola candidly expressed his concerns about the possibility of losing him.
“From the very beginning, he knew I didn’t want him to leave,” Guardiola mentioned after Manchester City’s recent 3-2 victory against Fulham.
“The offer didn’t come”

He further added, “The actual offer never appeared. There was some inquiry, but a player of his caliber, who has won four consecutive Premier League titles, holds significant value.”
“Players like him can’t leave without a substantial offer. Had a different proposal come through, he might not be here. That’s the reality.”
“(Was I anxious?) Absolutely. He’s crucial to our squad. I can’t envision our success without Eddie — he has made astonishing saves.”
Ederson’s Contract and Market Value at Man City
Guardiola brought Ederson to Manchester City from Benfica in 2017, and since then, he has appeared in 257 Premier League matches, earning six league titles and one UEFA Champions League title.
Currently, Ederson’s contract with the club extends until the end of the 2025/26 season, with the team open to discussions about an extension. His estimated transfer value stands around £30 million ($38 million).
