House Help Arrested for Important Theft
In Nairobi, Kenya, a 28-year-old domestic worker named Lenah Khamatioli has been apprehended for allegedly stealing valuable items, including a $24,500 iPhone 15 and jewelry, from her employer, a South Sudanese national.
Lenah was captured along with two accomplices, Ian Kavaya (28) and Peninah Mutola (32), after the detectives located them at a hideout. During the search, various newly purchased items presumed to be stolen were discovered.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), “three individuals linked to a significant theft case involving electronic goods and $24,500 were detained last month in Westlands, Nairobi.”
The investigation revealed that on September 24, the employer returned home on Rahpta Road, only to find her house help missing along with crucial possessions, including the iPhone and a Samsung Z Flip. After reporting the incident, a thorough investigation was initiated by the DCI Kilimani office.
Following weeks of forensic investigation, the suspects were identified and arrested. In their possession were numerous brand-new items, such as a motorcycle (Reg No. KMGN 840N), a 55-inch TV, microwave, laptop, oven, gas cylinder, sofa, mattress, watches, and several Samsung phones, all of which were confiscated.
Additionally, investigators seized a purchase agreement for a parcel of land in Kapkangani, Nandi County, worth Kshs 423,000.
The suspects are currently in custody as efforts continue to locate other possible accomplices and any additional stolen property.
