Hoang A Tuong Mansion Reveals Its Stunning Transformation Post-Restoration

Hoang A Tuong Mansion unveils fresh look after restoration

After serving as a popular tourist destination for many years, the Hoang A Tuong Mansion, recognized as a national historical site in the Bac Ha district of Lao Cai province, is undergoing significant restoration by the Lao Cai Department of Tourism.

The restoration initiative started in December 2023 and is expected to conclude by October 2024, backed by an investment of 11.9 billion VND, of which 9.3 billion VND is allocated for construction expenses.

Recent updates from VietNamNet indicate that most of the restoration work has been finalized. While the mansion’s architectural integrity has been maintained, its previously yellow exterior has been refreshed with a new white coat, which has surprised many visitors.

Mr. Ha Van Thang, the Director of the Lao Cai Department of Tourism, noted that the last restoration of the mansion occurred in 2007. Due to the building’s wear over time, this recent effort aims to improve visitor experiences and enhance local tourism appeal.

Mr. Thang emphasized that the restoration project adhered to established guidelines, with the decision to change the façade color made during a symposium. Here, experts and local leaders deliberated, ultimately selecting this new hue to reflect the mansion’s historical appearance more accurately.

Constructed in 1921, the Hoang A Tuong Mansion is a remarkable piece of history in Lao Cai, featuring a blend of European and traditional architectural styles. It has withstood the test of time and continues to attract visitors interested in Vietnam’s rich cultural legacy.
