Tottenham supporters might be surprised to learn that former player Sandro has made an unexpected transfer to a club situated in the seventh tier of English football.
The 35-year-old Brazilian midfielder has signed with Harborough Town, a team competing in the Southern League Premier Central in Leicestershire.
This development has stirred interest among non-league football enthusiasts in the UK, as Sandro prepares to play again for the first time since 2020.
During his five-year tenure at Spurs from 2010 to 2015, Sandro appeared in 106 matches before transferring to QPR. His career later took him to clubs in Turkey, Italy, and his homeland of Brazil, before he returned to the UK in 2023 to work as an ambassador for Tottenham.
Sandro’s return to playing after over a year of retirement was inspired by a conversation with fans at a Spurs match. He expressed his eagerness to take on this new challenge.
“While I was working for Tottenham, some fans approached me and said, ‘Sandro, you look fantastic, you should join our team.’ It made me consider it,” he shared in an interview with Sky Sports.

“I quickly asked them about the team’s location and games. I felt it would be great to help out,” he continued.
“I’m currently available and keep up with my fitness, but getting back on the pitch is a different experience; I need to prepare more.”
Harborough Town has reached the FA Cup’s Second Round for the first time in their history and will face Reading, an EFL League One club, on November 30, which is when Sandro aims to make his comeback.
“I’m officially on the roster now. I can participate in that match, and I’m excited to play again after two years. I’ve missed the game and look forward to being part of the team and dressing room again.”
