A woman on X has expressed her dissatisfaction regarding the economic difficulties in the country, recalling how she had a more satisfying life when she was earning N350K in 2021.
Now in 2024, despite making significantly more money, she feels unable to satisfy the desires she once could easily meet.
She reminisced about buying anything she desired, traveling by plane, and generally enjoying life at a lower income. In contrast, her current higher salary doesn’t allow her the same luxuries.
She shared on X: “Back in 2021, I consistently earned 350k plus a few side gigs. Life was better, I was happier. I could go shopping and get nice things. My home was filled with products I enjoyed. I traveled frequently.”
“Fast forward to 2024, I make much more but struggle to buy even simple items like seedless grapes and expensive snacks. I’m frustrated because even with a higher income, I can’t figure out where my money goes—I barely eat like I used to. Now, I stick to basic meals, while others still wish for simple dollar exchanges.”
“I used to shop for trendy clothes, shoes, and bags monthly—all at Instagram prices. But now in 2024, I earn significantly more yet live like I’m thrifting. I can’t recall the last time I purchased anything online. My utility bills have tripled, yet somehow, I still genuinely earn much more.”
