Comrade Mohammed Mamman, the Director General of Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, confirmed that the endorsement was detailed in a memo signed by Governor Buni CON, following the state government’s minimum wage committee’s suggestions.

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has announced that starting December 2024, state civil servants will receive a minimum wage of N70,000.

As per Comrade Mohammed Mamman, this decision was outlined in a memo authorized by Governor Buni, based on recommendations made by a state government committee focused on minimum wage issues.

“The committee suggested that local government finances be reviewed to facilitate a smooth transition from the old pay structure to the new minimum wage.”

“This financial review is almost complete and will be finalized soon to enable local government employees to transition swiftly to the new salary framework.”

“The government anticipates that civil servants will respond positively by committing to improved service delivery,” Mamman remarked.
